Mulan performed by Chestnut

Friday 15th February | No comments yet

Year 5 Chestnut Class have worked extremely hard over the last 14 weeks to put together a fantastic performance of ‘Mulan’. They have been involved in the ‘My BD Festival’, along with 6 other schools, to perform a play that would represent this year’s theme of ‘All Things Equal’. We have been drawing on Mulan to learn about gender stereotypes, explore what ‘power’ means to them and we have had the opportunity to discuss ideas that they had never considered before.  I have been tremendously proud of all of the students this year and they were praised highly by the other schools at the festival for their fantastic show! The children have taken time at home and at school to learn a large play script, to develop their drama skills, to take on different character roles and the production team have been working very hard to organise the plays props, costumes and design backdrops. They have been amazing!

Well done Chestnut!

Awards for best performance.
